Hansen's bill is poorly hidden homophobia

Editor:

Tonight I read with interest and humor and frustration the letter from the president of the Montana Family Foundation. Some praise for Rep. Hansen is indeed appropriate because she is a fine lawyer and finally found what he feels is a legitimate reason to undermine the concern for homosexual discrimination. I would hardly fit the description of a homosexual activist, but I am certainly aware that Montana has a group of homophobic people, and I pray we don't end up with our own Matthew Shepherd.

I find it ironic that this issue is so much more important than all the other city ordinances on the books everywhere. You know, like no marijuana in some city limits when it is legal in Montana. Mr. Laszloffy praised the minister (at the committee hearing) who very angrily said that homosexuality is an abomination and that it should be punished with death. Yes, well he quoted from the Bible where this was found and I thought about where it says if you marry someone who is divorced or if women wear pants what horrible things would happen.

But Jesus died on the cross for all our sins and some things have changed since then. It also says judge not that you be not judged; for those who think I am judging, I am only pointing out what I think is a poorly hidden agenda.

So folks, just because it quacks doesn't make it a duck!

Hoping for equality and justice,
