Florence Irene (Beck) Hamilton

Florence Irene (Beck) Hamilton, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 3, 2011.

She passed away from cancer at the Missouri River Manor. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook, Mont. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2011, at 1 p. m. in Hogeland Lutheran Church. The family will hold a private burial at a later date at the Silver Bow Cemetery.

Florence was born on April 24, 1934, to Otto and Mary (Wiedmer) Beck in Havre, Mont. She lived in Hogeland, Mont., until 1951, when she graduated from high school in three years. She graduated from Northern Montana College in Havre in 1953 with a two-year degree and a teaching certificate. She later continued her education via summer school and correspondence courses. Her teaching career began in Hogeland in 1953 and continued on and off until 1970. She continued to substitute in Turner.

On Aug 9, 1953, Florence married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Hamilton. Together they had four children, Doug, Dixie, Danny and Denita. After their marriage they lived in Havre, Mont., Killeen, Texas, and Leesville, La. In 1960 they moved back to Hogeland where they lived and farmed until September 2005. At that time they retired to a condo in Great Falls, Mont. They traveled to many U. S. destinations as well as England and Mexico. They spent many winter months in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., with good friends.

Florence was very involved in the Hogeland American Lutheran Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Once in Great Falls, she was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church.

Florence's love and loyalty to family and friends were one of her greatest assets.

Throughout her life she hosted family gatherings and entertained friends at home.

One of Florence's favorite pastimes was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her generous spirit, always giving her family unconditional love and support. Blessed be her memory!

Florence is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dick; four children, Douglas (Fran) Hamilton of Hogeland and Great Falls, Dixie (Mike) Teague of Great Falls, Danny Hamilton and granddaughter, Lexi, of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Denita (Steve) Humphreys and grandsons, Levi, Tyler and Shay of Hogeland; sisters, Gladys Morris of Baker, and Marge Cole of Riverside, Calif. ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents; a brother, Bill Beck; sisters, Lorraine Cox and Eleanor Struck preceded her in death.

Memorials in Florence's name may be given to Hogeland American Lutheran Church, Bethel Lutheran Church in Great Falls, American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
