Area basketball stars shine at annual Senior Classic

The spring sports season is under way, but there was still basketball to be played on the Hi-Line last week.

Last Thursday in Rudyard, the annual Senior Classic, hosted by North Star High School was played. The games feature senior talent from around the Hi-Line, including District 9C and 10C stars.

In the girls game, the Dark Team, led by North Star's Bridjour Han edged the Light Team 40-38. Han scored 16 points and was named the game's MVP. Angie Christiaens of Sunburst added 11 points and Mariah Gullickson of Big Sandy scored nine. The Light Team was led by Big Sandy's Hannah Williams with 14 points and Chinook's Ashley Bower with nine.

In the boys game, the Dark Team beat the Light Team 74-60 as Chinook's Taylor Erskine earned MVP honors. Erskine scored 16 points, while Turner's Travis Daniels led with 19. The Light Team got 19 points from Chester/J-I's Brandon Graff while Chinook's Lane Schmitt added 13 and C/J-I's Bryant Ceynar scored 10.

Schmitt also won the boys 3-point shooting competition, while the girls event was captured by C/J-I's Kylie Richter.
