Yvonne R. 'Bonnie' Brazer
Yvonne Rose "Bonnie" Brazer, 77, passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes. Her memorial service will be at 1 p. m. Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, at the First Presbyterian Church, with Pastor John Bruington officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held immediately after the service at the church. Burial will be held in the spring. Memorials in Bonnie's honor may be made to the Kidney Foundation c/o NKF, serving Colorado, Wyoming and Montana, 650 South Cherry St., Ste. 435 Denver, CO 80246-1896, or to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
Bonnie was born Nov. 30, 1933, in Sidney, Mont., to John and Norma (Bower) Petty. She was raised and educated in Sidney. Her mother died when she was a young girl, and her father remarried Kathleen in 1947. Bonnie married Jacob Brazer, July 9, 1950, in Sidney. The couple moved to Havre, Mont., for Jacob's job with the railroad. They made their home in Havre and raised three children. Bonnie owned and operated her own beauty shop "Bonnie's Beauty Shop, " which started in 1952. She operated it until her retirement in 1971, when the family moved west of town. Bonnie was a home-body. She loved her home and enjoyed having people visit. She was an avid reader and was a huge Elvis Presley fan. She enjoyed the outdoors, camping and boating at Fresno and her beautiful flowers. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life. She enjoyed their visits and the great-grandchildren were always spoiled with a cup of hot chocolate because it always tasted better when Grandma made it.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Norma Petty; her stepmother, Kathleen Petty; an infant brother, Daryl Petty; two brothers, John "Jeep" Petty and Charlie Petty; one sister, Darlene (Dotsy) Hankins; and her beloved husband, Jacob Brazer in 2000.
Bonnie is survived by her children, daughters, Norma (Mike) Mariani and Karen (Alec) McIntosh both of Havre, Mont. ; and one son, Duane (Anna) Brazer of Lincoln, Neb. ; her grandchildren, Shawn (Michelle) Mariani, Shane (Sarah) Mariani, Ryan (Callie Rauning) McIntosh, Christopher McIntosh, Sonya (Nick) Hughes, Laticia (Duane) Kuhn, Simon Brazer and Cassidy Brazer; her brothers, LeRoy Petty of Billings, Mont., Allen Petty of Sidney, Mont., and Jimmy Petty of Miles City, Mont. ; and several nieces and nephews.
