Thelma Rosella Mowen, 95, passed away in Bozeman, Mont., on March 1, 2011.

She was born Aug. 13, 1915, in East Liverpool, Ohio, to Ernest and Edna (Thomas) Reeder.

She attended school in Alliance, Ohio, graduating from the Alliance High School in 1933. She worked at the McCaskey Restester Co. for five years.

She married Harry Mowen on June 15, 1935, in Alliance. They raised two children, Tom and Sandra. The family moved to Bozeman in 1949, where she worked with her husband for Hertz Rental Car from 1950 to 1965. Harry passed away Aug. 11, 1965.

Thelma worked as a housekeeper at the Elkhorn Dude Ranch in the Gallatin Canyon during the summers, and worked for the same family at their ranch home in Tuscon, Ariz., during the winters. She later went to work as a clerk at Chambers-Fisher Department Store and worked as a clerk at a number of other stores over the next 27 years. She retired in 1992.

She enjoyed her family, reading and was a home companion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Margaret Reeder; granddaughter, Heather Mowen; and an infant grandson.

Thelma is survived by her son, Tom (Betty Rae) Mowen, Havre; her daughter, Sandra (Arnold) Jacobs of Bozeman; and grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) Strickler, Destry (Chris) Jacobs, Wyatt (Coryell) Jacobs and Corey (Shiloh) Mowen. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Friday, March 4, at Dokken-Nelson Sunset Chapel.

Interment will follow in Sunset Hills Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Dokken-Nelson Funeral Service, http://www.dokkennelson.com.
