Ice Hawks crush Miles City

The Havre Ice Hawks have had a rough season in some ways. Cancellations and tough losses, bad weather and missed games.

But this past weekend at the Havre Ice Dome, the Ice Hawks had plenty to smiles about as they swept Miles City in a pair of high school hockey games.

On Saturday night, the Ice Hawks crushed Miles City 11-0 and put up an even bigger 14-0 score on Sunday morning. A big factor in Havre's wins was the Ice Hawks defense and goalie Joey DeVries, who pitched a pair of shutouts between the pipes. On Saturday, DeVries stopped 14 Miles City shots, and he came up with 18 saves Sunday morning.

The Ice Hawks also exploded on offense in both games.

Saturday saw Nate Welch record a hat trick and total four points as he added an assist to his three goal-night. Ned Malone racked up two goals, while Danny Roe added four points with a goal and three assists. Ethan Hettinger had a goal and two assists as did Brayden Grimson. Jon Stoner added a goal and an assist, Justin Jensen scored one goal and Levi Wavrick chipped in with a goal while Tim Welch had one assist.

Things got even better for the Ice Hawks Sunday morning.

Malone scored a hat trick and had another four points with an assist. Hettinger added a hat trick to go along with two assists for a whopping five-point game. Nate Welch scored two goals and had two assists, while Roe added a goal and two assists. Grimson had a goal and an assist, Stoner had one goal, Jensen had one goal and an assist, Roxanna Jensen scored a goal, Jonathan Austin had a goal and an assist, and Tim Welch and Chase Rolf each totaled one assist.

The Ice Hawks are back on the road this weekend with games at Glasgow Friday and Saturday.
