John R. Armour

John R. Armour, 66, of Grass Range, died Thursday night, Dec. 23, 2010, at his home near Grass Range, Mont., following a short illness. He was born Aug, 15, 1944, to parents Guy and N. Coetta (Franklin) Armour in Rayle, Ga. He received his education in Georgia, then entered the U.S. Air Force in 1965. After his honorable discharge in 1969, John moved to Montana and worked as a mechanic in Great Falls. On June 15, 1969, he was united in marriage to Genevieve "Genny" Nelson in Great Falls, Mont. Genny entered the Army Nurse Corps in 1969, and together they moved to Augusta, Ga. for seven years. In the mid-1970s, they moved to Laramie, Wyo., and John worked as a manager at Poulte Homes, building prefab homes. In 1980, they moved back to Montana, where John worked as a ranch hand in Great Falls, Simms and Square Butte. In 1986, they moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., where John worked at Peterson AFB as a civilian contractor and later moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., where he retired. In 1995 they moved to Grass Range, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Charles Russell Armour.

He was survived by his wife, Genny of Grass Range, Mont .; one son, Bryon of Lewistown, Mont .; one brother, Pete Armour of St. Louis, Mo .; three grandsons, Brad and Hooper Armour of Lewistown, Mont., and Dillon Matheson of Thermopolis, Wyo.

Funeral services for John R. Armour will be held Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at 1 p.m.in the Grass Range School, with interment to follow in the Armour Family Cemetery. Cloyd Funeral Home & Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
