Havre boys travel to CMR

The Havre High boys basketball team is back on the road tonight, fresh off a weekend split with Central A rivals Belgrade and Livingston.

But tonight's road game will certainly present some difficult new challenges for the Blue Ponies (1-1). HHS is in Great Falls this evening to take on the highly-touted Class AA CMR Rustlers at 7 inside the CMR Fieldhouse.

The Rustlers are the two-time defending Class AA champions, and despite losing two-time Gatorade Player of the Year Josh Heustis, who is now a freshman at Stanford, CMR is loaded with talent and poised to make another run at a state championship.

However, the Ponies come to Great Falls tonight with some confidence under their belt. Havre rebounded from a tough loss to Belgrade on Friday night by winning in Livingston on Saturday. The Ponies got a strong first weekend from veterans Logan Connor and Anfernee Standing Rock, who averaged 20 and 18 points, respectively. Brandon Smith and Drew Kafka also played well for HHS and will be counted on tonight to help guard the much-bigger Rustlers.

Tonight's game against the Rustlers in Great Falls is the Ponies' last before the holiday break. Havre makes its home debut on Jan. 7 against Lewistown.
