Chinook, C/J-I get Northern C honors

Following a dream season, the accolades just keep pouring in for the Chinook football team.

Six Sugarbeeters and five Chester/J-I Hawks were named Northern C All-Conference this season, as both teams had strong showings in the league this year.

Five of the six Beeters to earn all conference were selected for two positions, while C/J-I had three players earn all conference at two different positions.

Leading the way for Chinook was senior Tyler Molyneaux, Jorrell Jones and junior Ben Stroh who were selected first team both ways. Molyneaux was named first team running back, as well as outside linebacker/cornerback, while Stroh earned first team fullback and first team inside linebacker. Jorrell Jones earned first-team honors at both offensive guard and defensive end.

Josh Jones and Chris Haider were also recognized at two positions. Jones was selected first team defensive line and second team guard, while Haider earned first-team defensive end honors and second-team wide receiver/end honors. Connlin Brown rounded out the Chinook selections as a second-team tackle.

All of the aforementioned Chinook players and quarterback Lane Schmitt were all nominated for Class C all-state honors as well.

After a 4-4 season and a Class C playoff berth, the Chester/J-I Hawks also got some postseason recognition.

Five Hawks earned Northern C honors, led by Brandon Graff who earned second-team at quarterback and outside linebacker/cornerback. Senior Ethan Wolery was also second team at two positions. Wolery was named second team at fullback and defensive end, while Lane Harmon earned honorable mention at both offensive guard and defensive line.

Grant Lakey was a an honorable wide receiver/end and Ceddy Pogue earned honorable mention honors at running back for C/J-I.

Graff and Wolery were also nominated to the Class C all-state team.
