Hilda Iverson

Hilda Iverson, 95, of Williston, N.D., died Tuesday evening, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home, where she had been a resident.

Funeral services are tentatively set for 10 a. m., Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at the Bethel Lutheran Home Chapel. Pastor Chris Raiford will officiate. Cremation has taken place, and burial will be held in the spring. Friends may share memories and condolences with the family online at http://www.fulkersons.com.

Hilda Charlette Iverson was born on Oct. 4, 1915, on the family farm, in Brooklyn Township, near Wheelock, N.D., the daughter of Rasmus and Johanna (Mikkelson) Siverson. Hilda grew up and attended school in Brooklyn Township. Following graduation. She attended Business College in Fargo, N.D. for one year. Hilda worked in the Farmers Union Creamery until she was united in marriage to Hjalmer Iverson on June 21, 1940, in Wheelock, N.D. The couple made their home in Williston where Hilda worked for several businesses before going to work at the Coast to Coast store. Her husband worked for the railroad. which took him to Havre, Mont., and in 1961 Hilda joined him there. While in Havre, she worked for the Coast to Coast Store and later worked at the hospital. In 1976, they returned to Williston, N.D., where she worked at the hospital until her retirement. Her husband died in 1983 and Hilda remained in Williston. She entered Bethel Home in November 2003.

Hilda was a member of the Our Redeemers Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and did quilting. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing cards, going square dancing with her husband, and attending family gatherings for the holidays. Being a country girl, she loved the smell of newly cut green grass. She also loved to drive the vehicles.

Hilda died on Tuesday evening, Nov. 23, 2010, at the Bethel Home in Williston.

Surviving her are her two sons, Kenyon (Betty) Iverson, Corvallis, Ore. and Curtis Iverson, Havre, Mont. ; a granddaughter, Kaaren Embertson, Corvallis, Ore. ; a grandson, Eric Iverson, Hermosa Beach, Calif. ; and a step-grandson, Ryker J. O'Leary, Havre, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; step-grandson, Kellen P. Lund; two brothers, Siver Siverson and Mike Siverson; and three sisters, Clara Poole, Selma Lindquist and Mabel Hovde.

In lieu of flowers family requests memorials be made to Our Redeemers Lutheran Church Radio Fund or the Bethel Lutheran Home.
