Billings sweeps Ice Hawks

It was a rough season debut for the Havre High School hockey team.

Playing at the Havre Ice Dome to open their season, the Ice Hawks were swept by the Billings Bulls Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday morning, the Bulls defeated the Ice Hawks 4-1, as Havre got a lone goal from sophomore Danny Roe. Havre goalie Gareth Bernard saved 34-of-38 shots on goal, while Billings' goalie stopped 13 shots of Havre's 14 shots on goal as the Ice Hawks dropped their season-opener.

Havre's offense picked up the paces on Sunday morning, but so did Billings, as the Bulls outscored the Ice Hawks 10-5.

Roe again had the hot had for the Ice Hawks, putting the puck in the net three times for the hat trick. He also assisted on a Jon Stoner goal. Chase Rolf and Justin Jensen also found the net for the Ice Hawks, while Jonathan Austin and Levi Wavrick had assists.

Bernard was busy between the pipes for the Ice Hawks on Sunday. The junior goalie stopped 40-of-50 Billings shots on goal.

The Ice Hawks' schedule isn't complete yet, but they will be back in action this month.
