Dorothy Velma McCord
Dorothy Velma (Beesley) McCord, 81, formerly of Groveton, N.H., died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, at Country Village-Genesis Elder Care Center in Lancaster, N.H., where she had been a resident for two years.
Dorothy was born June 27, 1929, in Burt, N.D., a daughter of Frank "Francis" and Nellie (Bhar) Beesley, she had been a resident of Groveton for about 20 years, coming from Independence, Kan.
She had previously lived in Billings, Mont.
Dot was a graduate from Lemon Dakota High School. Before retiring, she worked for 25 years as a laundry clerk for Big Sky Linen Supply in Billings. She was a member of the Faith Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church in Groveton.
She is survived by her son, the Rev. Paul Beesley of Groveton; two granddaughters, Sharon Beesley and Rebecca Beesley; and one brother, Harold Beesley of Leroy, Ill., as well as numerous nieces and nephews including Diane Petersen, Connie Chapman, Mary Turner and Michael Freier, all of Havre.
She was predeceased by her husband, James McCord, on Dec. 17, 1992; two sisters, Ruth Gill and Catherine Freier; and two brothers, Julius Beesley and Jim Beesley.
Calling hours were held on Friday, Sept. 17, at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home, with services following at the funeral home. Burial followed at the Northumberland Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Groveton Ambulance Corp.; c/o Sandra Mason; 7 Arlington Ave.; Groveton, NH 03582.
