MARGARET O'BRIEN TAYLOR obituary

Margaret O'Brien Taylor passed away with her family at her side on Jan. 20, 2010, at Sweetwater Retirement Community. Margaret was born in Chinook, Mont., to Thomas and Edna O'Brien on Feb. 22, 1925. She was raised and educated in Chinook and graduated in 1943. Margaret worked for various banks in Portland, Ore., San Diego, Havre and Chinook during the World War II era. Margaret met her lifelong husband, E.S (Ternie) Taylor, in 1946. They were married on April 3, 1948. Born to this union were five children, Margaret Mary, David, Michael, Leanne and Mark. Margaret gladly accepted the job of being a fulltime mom. Most important to Margaret was her family and her faith. Margaret took pride in her home and cooking and always liked to "look her best." Margaret's children and grandchildren were the highlights of her life. She spent many hours gardening and canning her harvest every year to share with many. Margaret donated much of her time to St. Gabriel's Parish in Chinook, especially to the Altar Society. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her first daughter, Margaret Mary; her sisters, Ceil and Ann; and her brother, Tom. Margaret is survived by her husband of nearly 62 years, Ternie; her sister, Agnes Waldren of San Diego; her sons, David Taylor (Connie) of Chinook, Michael Taylor (Tamalee) and Mark Taylor (Linda), all of Billings; her daughter, Leanne Knapp (Don) of Culbertson; grandchildren, Angela Kennedy (Travis) and Sara Taylor of Billings, Matthew Frye (Katie) of Williston, N.D., Whitney Taylor and Michael Frye of Phoenix, Ariz., and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. Cremation has taken place, and a small service will be held among her new friends at Sweetwater. A celebration of life will be held in her hometown, Chinook, at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at St. Gabriel's Church. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday. Arrangements are by Smith Funeral Chapel of Billings and Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
