It wasn't easy, but the Rocky Boy Stars are still unbeaten after the their first District 1B tournament. On Saturday night in Shelby, the Stars pulled out a one-point thriller, 40-39 to claim the district championship in their first season of Class B basketball. Rocky Boy got 11 points from Erik Schildt and nine from Leisin Oats in the close win over the Coyotes, improving to 20-0 on the season. The Stars, who also beat Cut Bank 73-48 in Friday's semifinal round, will move on to Thursday's Northern B Divisional in Glasgow. Against Cut Bank, Rocky Boy was led by Schildt's 23 points and 17 rebounds, while Garrett Lafromboise had 12 points. While Rocky Boy is moving on, this weekend was the end of the line for a pair of Hi-Line teams. At the District 2B tournament in Glasgow, Harlem came up one game short of making the divisional tournament. The Wildcats dropped a heartbreaker to Poplar, 62-60 on Saturday morning, bringing their season to an end. Harlem started strong with a 71-46 thrashing of Plentywood on Thursday. In the win, the Wildcats got a whopping 35 points from Elias Goes Ahead. The win pushed Harlem into the semifinals, where the Wildcats fell to top-seeded Malta, 79-44. The Northern B will feature Rocky Boy, Shelby, Fairfield and Cut Bank from the 1B, as well as Wolf Point, Malta, Glasgow and Poplar from the 2B. The District 10C tournament was also where the Chester/J-I Hawks season ended. The Hawks opened tournament play with a heartbreaking overtime loss to Sunburst on Wednesday night in Cut Bank. The Refiners beat the Hawks 52- 50, while C/J-I got 16 points from Lane Harmon in the loss. On Saturday, C/J-I took the floor again, falling to Valier 58-46 in loser-out play. Grant Lakey scored 17 points and Harmon added 13 in the loss to the Panthers.
