Lawrence (Mik) Mikkelson

Lawrence (Mik) Mikkelson, 86, of Olathe, Kan., passed away July 18,

2010.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 30, with a memorial Mass at 11 a.m., at Price of Peace Chapel, in Olathe.

Mik was born July 13, 1924, to Detlof and Emma Mikkelson in Great Falls, Mont., and raised on a ranch near Big Sandy, Mont. He graduated from Big Sandy High School in 1942 and enlisted in the Air Force Cadet program in February 1944. He married Marie Van Hoorn on Oct. 13, 1944, in Marana, Ariz.

He was employed by General Mills as an office manager and later employed as a regional supervisor for Gold Bond Stamp Co.

Mik is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marie; and their eight children: Lawrence (Mona Hennes), James (Cathy), Linda Voss, Judy (Stan Bolsenga), Ken (Emerald), Jerry, Karen (Steve Arkin) and Tina (Randy Rockhold); 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
