Janis Lee Vasecka, 78, died April 7, 2010, of complications due to a stroke she had suffered several years earlier. She was born in Melrose Park, Ill., to Helen and Harvey Munsterman. In 1951, while serving in the Women's Air Force, she met and married Edward G. Vasecka, Jr. At Keesler Air Force Base in Mississippi. They spent the next 27 years traveling around the United States and overseas while Ed continued his career in the Air Force. In 1964 they were stationed in Havre, and from then on they called Montana their home. Upon retirement, Ed and Jan bought a house in West Glacier and lived there happily until their health began to fail, and they moved to the Waterford in Helena to be closer to their children in December 2009. Janis was not only a homemaker and a supportive and proud military wife, but also a volunteer with the Red Cross, the Girl Scouts and eventually a volunteer in the park (VIP) at her beloved Glacier National Park. Janis is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Ed; a brother, John, in Florida; and four children; Terri Brooks (Adam) of Clancy, Vicki Kulbeck (Glen) of Big Sandy, Scott Vasecka of Havre, and Linnea Vasecka of Butte. She has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lois Landwehr, and her parents.
