As per Daryl's wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial. For those who wish, contributions may be made to a charity of their choice. A scattering of his ashes will occur at a later date at one of his favorite spots in the Bear's Paw Mountains. Arrangements were entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Daryl was born Sept. 4, 1956, along with his twin sister, Cheryl, in Havre, to Betty and John Patera. Daryl attended Havre High School and graduated in 1974. He went on to graduate from the University of Montana with a bachelor of arts degree in business and accounting. He successfully passed the Montana state certified public accountants and the national certified public accountants exam on his first attempt. Daryl began his professional career with Peat Marwick in Billings, Mont., in 1981, as an accountant. In 1983, he began a 27-year career with Weyerhaeuser Corporations in Federal Way, Wash., as an accountant. He began to rise through the ranks at corporate as a senior auditor/senior comptroller as well as various supervisory and managerial positions in the auditing and accounting divisions. He was assigned duties with the company throughout the United States, Canada, France, Switzerland and Germany until International Paper bought out his division in 2009. Daryl then went to work in October 2009 at Tacoma Water Utilities as a senior utilities economist until his death. Daryl was preceded in death by his father, John Patera; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Barbara Patera; maternal grandparents, William and Leona Draeger; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Daryl is survived by his loving mother, Betty Patera; his brother, Bruce (Jean) Patera and children, Christopher and Maggie; his twin sister, Cheryl (Doug) Dusek and children; Andrew and Nicci, all of Havre, Mont .; and his brother, William Patera of Turner, Mont.
