Clayton Parsons, 86, passed away Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook of natural causes. Cremation has taken place and his memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the Fifth Avenue Christian Church, with Rowlie Hutton officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the service. Memorial contributions in Clayton's honor may be made to the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home of Chinook or to a memorial of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Clayton was born May 29, 1923, in Mankato, Minn., to Harvey and Jane Parsons. He attended schools in Minnesota. He served in the Army during World War II and received an honorable discharge. On Dec. 16, 1944, he married Lorraine Peterson in St. Peter, Minn. The couple moved to Havre where Clayton worked for the post office and with his father at the Glacier Trail Creamery. He later worked for Vita Rich Dairy and was the first manager of the Holiday House Restaurant. He also worked for Meadow Gold Dairy. Upon retiring, he became a pilot car driver for Meissner's Tractor Company. Clayton enjoyed spending time water skiing with the family at Fresno. He consumed gallons of coffee at local restaurants. He was a great practical joker with a large sense of humor. He never sat still, but could fall asleep in any chair he sat in. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Merne; his wife, Lorraine; his son, Steve; and his great-grandson Devon.
