GRACE DORAROSE GIBSON obituary

Grace Dorarose Gibson, 8, died at Seattle Children's Hospital April 8, 2010, after a year-long battle with leukemia. Grace was born April 3, 2002, in Havre, Mont. She grew up north of Havre and was a secondgrader at Cottonwood Elementary School. Grace was a very loving and generous child. She had a lot of friends and was loved by many. She was interested in everything and was always up for an adventure. She was not afraid of anything. She was very determined to learn new skills and do things well. Grace loved fingernail polish, mood rings, Webkinz, Magic Tree House books, Shel Silverstein poems, Harry Potter movies and any story containing a dragon or magic. She liked lizards, snakes and spiders. Grace loved to be doing what adults around her were doing. She enjoyed baking cookies and helping with supper. She loved all animals and being outside. She was competitive at cards and all sorts of games. She learned how to add to 31 specifically so she could beat us at cribbage. Grace was born to ride. She started riding horses when she was two and would ride for hours. She was a good hand and loved to work cows. She also loved barrel racing and pole bending, and she won four belt buckles in competition. She would ride in any weather and loved riding different horses. Grace is survived by two sisters, Mary, 6, and Cassie, 3; parents, Micah and Karen Gibson; grandparents, Deanna Rodriguez and Bud and Carol Boyce; great-grandmother, Dora Vail; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Gracie was an old soul at heart. She was a very special girl who was gracious and kind. She inspired those around her with her courage and strength. Grace was a blessing for our family and will be greatly missed by all. A vigil will be held at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church Friday, April 16, at 7 p.m., and a memorial service at 11 p.m. Saturday, April 17. Father Pete Guthneck will preside. A reception at St. Jude Parish Center will follow the memorial, with burial at Cottonwood Cemetery following the reception.
