"Happy Birthday" might not be a song that Jason Michael Carroll has recorded, but the country music star good-naturedly sang it to several fans during his concert at the Havre Ice Dome Thursday.
He also performed his own hits, such as "Where I'm From," "Alyssa Lies," "Hurry Home" and "I Can Sleep When I'm Dead."
In an earlier interview, Carroll said he sings songs that tell stories to which people can relate. The tunes struck a chord with Havre listeners, who danced to and sang along with many of the songs.
Carroll has played larger venues and has toured with famous acts like Brooks & Dunn. He brought plenty of energy to the small crowd, at one point playing through a scheduled break because he said he was having so much fun.
Traces of his favorite performers, Aerosmith and Garth Brooks, carried through his show, like the scarves on his microphone stand and some of the songs. But there was plenty to the show that was solely Carroll. Fans cheered loudly as he signed autographs on everything from ticket stubs to cowboy boots while continuing to sing.
After the show, Carroll and his band headed to Butte.
