The time for the Montana State University- Northern football team to begin preparations for a new season is drawing very near.
MSU-N players will report to fall camp Saturday and after a day of physicals, meetings and more, the Lights will hit the practice field for the first time on Sunday. MSU-N's first practice is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the MSUNorthern practice fields.
Sunday's first practice will be just 19 days before the Lights begin their season at UM-Western Aug. 28 in Dillon.
The Lights have 10 games on the slate this season, so unlike last year, their season-opener will be a Frontier Conference matchup.
Last year, the Lights opened their season with a nonconference game against the University of Calgary in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
After Sunday's practice, the Lights will begin a week of two-a-days starting Monday morning.
Northern has a pair of on-field scrimmages planned in the coming weeks as well. The Lights will scrimmage on Saturday, Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. and again on Thursday, Aug. 19, at 6:30
p. m. After MSU-N's season-opener in Dillon, the Lights will have a week off, then play their home-opener against Montana Tech on Sept. 11.
