Its been three weeks since the Havre North Stars American Legion baseball team was swept in a rough doubleheader by the Class AA Great Falls Chargers.
So it's no wonder the North Stars are anxious to get back on the field.
And today in Conrad, the North Stars begin Northern District play when they take on the Tri-County Cardinals in a twin bill. The doubleheader starts at 3 p.m. in Conrad.
Today marks the start of a busy campaign for Havre. After playing Tri-County, the North Stars will take Friday off before returning to Legion Field to host a pair of district opponents over the weekend.
On Saturday, the North Stars will host Lethbridge at 6 p.m. and then they'll host the Great Falls Stallions in a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 1 p.m. This weekend's games will be the first against district opponents at home.
The Havre Tournament is also on tap for the North Stars June 10-13 at Legion Field, so Havre fans have plenty of chances to see the North Stars in action this week and next.
Heading into this weekend's action, the North Stars are 3-5 in nonconference play this season. Havre and head coach Steve Fanning are looking to get off to a strong start in district play, especially when every game counts towards seeding for the district tournament which will be held July 22-25 in Fort MacLeod, Alberta.
Today's games against Tri-County start at 3 p.m. in Conrad. Havre faces Lethbridge at home on Saturday at 6
p. m. and Great Falls Sunday at 1 p.m. All of those games will be at Legion Field.
