Fredrick William Miller, 89, died Sunday, July 29, 2007 at his home surrounded by his family.
Per Fred's request, cremation has taken place and no public services will be conducted. He was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Big Sandy the only son of two children born to Fred S. and Marie (Dessel) Miller. He was a 1935 graduate of Great Falls High School. He then continued his education at Northern Montana College and later, the New York Institute of Photography. He met and later married Marybelle C. Stirling on April 25, 1942, in Havre. She spent two wedding anniversaries waiting at home for her husband as he served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He returned to Havre where he worked at the Wright Photo Studio before purchasing it in 1950. He and Marybelle owned and operated the business together as The Miller Studio until their retirement in 1981. Fred was very active in the Havre community. He belonged to the VFW, a 30 year member of the Elks Club, Member of the Havre Knights of Columbus; a six year member of the Havre School Board; the Montana Photographer's association; Havre Radio Control Airplane Club just to mention a few. His hobbies included Radio Controlled Model Airplanes, fishing, hunting and reading. Fredrick was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Hornung; his sister, Gwen MacDonald; and his parents. He is survived by his wife of over 65 years, Marybelle Miller of Havre; his daughter, Linda (Donald) Slone of Anchorage, Ala.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
