MARY GREEN obituary

Mary Green, 91, died Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes, one week shy of her 92 birthday.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Mary was born Aug. 2, 1915, in Rossoshi, Russia to Henry and Molly Ostwald. Mary was the last survivor of nine children. She immigrated to the United States in 1926, and homesteaded in Culbertson. She married John Green on April 18, 1933. They made their home in Culbertson later moving to Harlem where they farmed and raised their children. They retired in 1979 and moved to Havre. Mary's hobbies included cooking, gardening, crocheting and reading her Bible. Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church or to one's choice. She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1989; one son, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her five children, Wilma (Frank) Maxwell of Bainbridge, Ga., Doris (Tom) Renaker of Havre, Darlene (Pete) Nicholson of Billings, Linda (Gary) Tanner of Havre and Larry (Kathy) Green of Huntley; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook.
