Ruth W. Christofferson, 93, a retired L.P.N. and a resident of Havre, died Sunday, July 15, 2007, at a Libby Hospital of complications from surgery.
The funeral service will be at 2 p. m. Friday, July 20, 2007, at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Steve Flatau and Norman Christofferson officiating. Her burial will follow at the Highland Cemetery. A luncheon be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside. Ruth was born on July 6, 1914, at Black Diamond, Alberta, the daughter of Norman and Nellie (Hornett) Brown. She graduated from the Turner Valley High School in Alberta. She became a resident of Havre in 1939. Ruth received her nurse's training at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Havre. On Nov. 5, 1941 in Great Falls, she married Andrew Christofferson. The couple made their home in Havre. Ruth was employed at the Havre Deaconess Hospital during World War II and as an OB nursery nurse for 16 years. She later worked for the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook for 26 years. Ruth retired at 81. She became a U.S. Citizen in 1964. Ruth enjoyed gardening, reading, needle work, and selling McNess Home Products. Ruth was a member of the L.P. N.'s Association, Home Demonstration Club and Women's Ministry of the Assembly of God Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse, Andrew, in 1999; her sister Alice Kerber,and her step-Son Arnold Christofferson. She is survived by three daughters, Nellie (Adolf) Neumann of Alexandria, Va., Ruth (Dennis) Hedge of Troy and Darlene(Jim) Bren of Orangevale, Calif.; son, Norman (Corlynn) Christofferson of Helena, two stepsons, Clarence (Jean) Christofferson of Helena and Ralph (Elsie) Christofferson of Calgary Alberta; one Sister, Norma Kearsley of Laguna Woods, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Memorials in Ruth's honor may be made to the Assembly Of God Church 901 West 9th Street Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
