VICTOR VERKUEHLEN obituary LAKESIDE

Victor Verkuehlen, 93, of Lakeside died Thursday, June 21, 2007.

There will be a memorial service on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Lakeside Community Chapel. Victor was born Nov. 7, 1913, in North Dakota and attended high school in Niagara, N.D. He married Ida Crawford in May of 1941. Victor moved to Havre in 1950 and managed a grain elevator. He bought a Minneapolis Moline Dealership in 1952, and purchased the Shanty Motel in 1959, then sold it in 1968. In 1970, he managed Beaver Creek Park in the Bear Paw Mountains south of Havre. He also worked for the Parks and Recreation Department in Havre and was on the city council for several years. After retiring he moved to Lakeside, where he became very active in the community. He is survived by his daughter, Jean Smith of Denver, Colo; three grandchildren, including Kim Wooding, Dale C. Polson and Darcy McKee; three greatgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews. Memorial gifts can be donated to the Lakeside Community Chapel.
