RONALD J. WINN obituary KLAMATH FALLS, Ore.

Ronald J. Winn, 51, a Klamath Falls resident, died Wednesday, June 26, 2007, at Sky Lakes Medical Center surrounded by family and friends after a twoyear battle with mitochondrial myopathy.

He requested to not have any memorial services. Family members will host a going away party for him at 6 p.m. on today at the Yacht Club. The event will have a no-host bar and guests are asked to bring a dessert or appetizer. Ron was born Aug. 10, 1955, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Ferris D. and Paula Winn. He attended kindergarten through the second grade in Klamath Falls at Shasta Elementary School. He and his family moved to Basin City, Wash., north of the Tri-Cities, in 1963. His childhood was spent on a ranch that his father operated for troubled youth. He was a star sprinter in school and still holds several Washington state records. Ron graduated from Connell High School in 1973 and attended the Art Institute of Atlanta to study photography before returning to the West. He worked as a photographer for several different newspapers in Idaho, Utah and Montana before moving to the Klamath Basin in 1999. In his six years with the Herald and News, Ron became known for his photographs of regional wildlife. He won numerous awards for his news photography and was once ranked as one of the top 10 photographers in the West by the Associated Press. In his free time, Ron enjoyed spending time with his wife, Millie Biela, along with their dog Scully and five cats. He also enjoyed hiking, growing chili peppers, cooking, going to Kla- Mo-Ya Casino and traveling to the Oregon Coast. He was never without a camera, whether he was at home or out with friends and family. He is preceded in death by his son, Zerik Winn; father, Ferris D. Winn. Ron is survived by his second wife, Millie Biela of Klamath Falls; sons, Zaaron Winn and Zach (Heather) Winn, all of Oswego, N.Y.; daughter, Zailyn Reprogal; mother, Paula Winn of Kennewick, Wash.; sisters, Sandi Mills of Kennewick and Judi Beck of Connell, Wash.; first wife, Kathi Winn; stepdaughter, Erinn (Matt) White of Missoula; stepdaughters, Anya Davis (Kip McCabe) of Chicago and Heather Davis-Rhodes; seven grandchildren, numerous neices, nephews and numerous other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations to Friends of Pets of the Klamath Basin can be made in Ron's name.
