HARLEM Helen Anita Laws, 77, of Harlem and recently of Hot Springs, passed away May 25, 2007, at a Havre Care Facility of natural causes.
A memorial service is being planed for a later date. Cremation has taken place. Helen was born Oct. 8, 1929, to Howard S. and Mabel (Murray) Webber in Plains. She grew up in the Plains and Hot Springs area and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1948. In June 1951, she met and married Allen Eley. To this union three children were born. The couple later divorced. In 1975 she met Ernest Laws and they married April 2, 1976, in Hot Springs. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 133 in Hot Springs with her husband Ernest and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs. Helen was a bright and cheerful person all her life and was admired by all she met. Her kind nature and generous spirit was felt by all around her. Though she never served as an officer of the Chapter her willing service was always available to all in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Mabel Webber; son, John Eley; and sister, June Webber. Helen is survived by her husband, Ernest Laws of Harlem; daughters, Nancy (George) Stiffarm of Fort Belknap and Wendy (Brian) Eley/Riener of Chester; grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Wilson of Mililani, Hawaii, George (Leigh) Stiffarm III and Jessica Stiffarm of Fort Belknap and Christie Diamond of Salt Lake City; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Shania Wilson of Mililani, Emjai Stiffarm and Shayne Stiffarm of Fort Belknap; brother, Howard (Alice) Webber of Camas Prairie. Services are under the care of Edwards Funeral Home in Chinook.
