Virginia M. Vaughn, 85, of Havre died Friday evening, May 25, 2007, at Northern Montana Care Center of natural causes.
Her funeral service will be held at 10 a. m. Friday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Brad Ulgenes officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship will be held at the church immediately following the graveside service. Virginia was born July 28, 1921, in White Court, Alberta, Canada, to William and Julia (Pogreba) Ury. Her family homesteaded in the Box Elder area. Virginia attended Box Elder Schools and graduated from Box Elder High School, the only woman in her class of four. She then attended Western Montana College in Dillon and graduated with her teaching certificate. She taught in Flat Willow, a rural community. She was introduced to her best friend and the love of her life, Raymond C. Vaughn. Virginia and Raymond were married on Sept. 9, 1950, in Havre. They made their home in Havre, raising their three children. Virginia enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, reading and was a fantastic cook. She enjoyed baking, canning and needlepoint. She loved children and would baby sit for many family and friends. She was a kind hearted person who also had a great love for animals. She and Raymond were members of the First Lutheran Church for many years. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond C. Vaughn in 2005; and sister, Ethel. Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Vaughn of San Antonio, Texas, Louellen (Steve) Lairy of Havre; son, Gary Vaughn of Havre; grandchildren, Alicia and Colter Lairy of Havre; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions in Virginia's honor may be made to the First Lutheran Church. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
