Catherine Ann Bradbury, 80, of Havre died Monday, May 21, 2007, at Northern Montana Care Center.
Viewing will be held from 9 a. m. to noon Tuesday at the Holland and Bonine Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with burial next to her husband at the Highland Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside. Catherine was born Dec. 16, 1926, in Havre to John and Rosa (Putra) Thompson. She was raised on the family ranch in the Bears Paw Mountains. She married Alfred Bradbury Oct. 4, 1946, in Havre, and the couple farmed north of Havre until 2005. Cathie enjoyed summers with the grandkids who affectionately called her Gram teaching them to cook and play Aggravation. She and Alfred looked forward to short trips south to warmer weather in the winter. Catherine attended Northern Montana College and received her teaching certificate. She taught school before and after she was married. She stopped teaching when she became a mother and was then a homemaker for many years. Catherine worked at the Havre Veterinary Hospital for Dr. Hryckiw as a veterinary technician for 16 years. She truly enjoyed her time there until she was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Catherine had a true passion for cooking and baking and spent many years of her life collecting cookbooks and creating recipes. In 1996, she fulfilled a dream and wrote the “Bradbury Family and Friends Cookbook,” which she was very proud of. Gardening and canning in large quantities were hobbies of hers. In recent years, she claimed her heritage with the Little Shell Indian Tribe. After years with Parkinson's disease, Catherine took up rug making and crocheted rugs numbering in the hundreds over the years for family and friends. Walking and staying active were important to her. She had a great love for singing hymns and found church to be a very important part of her life. Catherine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred Bradbury; sister, Edna Thompson; brothers, John Thompson and Thomas Thompson; and great-granddaughters, Lauren and Kelsey Buck. Survivors include her children, Gail Bradbury (Bernie Frisch) of Winona, Minn., Dorothy Bradbury, Jane (David) Thompson and Bill (Cathie) Bradbury, all of Havre; brother, William Thompson of Williston, N. D.; sister, Elizabeth Brown of Havre; grandchildren, Jennifer (Rich) Olson of Brooklyn Park, Minn., Erica (Kyle) Buck of Eagle, Idaho, Marie (Andy) Repcik of Lacey, Wash., Robert Frisch of Las Vegas, Nev., Adam Frisch of Grand Forks, N.D., and Christi Bradbury and Clint Bradbury, both of Havre; and great-grandsons, Isaac Buck, Matthew Olson and Colton Kuka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Catherine's honor may be made to the Havre Public School Education Foundation, P.O. Box 7791, Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland and Bonine Funeral Home.
