JOAN DOROTHY KARNA FISK obituary

SHEPHERD Joan Dorothy Karna Fisk, 76, died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, from a heart attack.

At Joan's request, her remains have been cremated. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, at Smith Funeral Home, 925 S. 27th St. Joan was born in Michigan, N. D. She was one of 14 children born to Oscar and E l e a n o r Karna. She grew up in N o r t h Dakota. In 1947, she met and married Wesley Fisk. Joan and Wes looked forward to celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in July. In their early years of marriage, they traveled and lived in many places until they settled in Havre in 1957 to raise their children. Joan and Wes owned Fisk Second Hand store until they sold it in 1985 and moved to Swan Lake and operated the Branding Iron Bar until 1990. Wes and Joan then moved to Shepherd and purchased the Red Rooster Bar. In the 17 years Joan lived in Shepherd, she made many friends and enjoyed many community and family gatherings. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Oscar, Richard, Michael, Jerry, Jim; and sister Kay. Survivors include her loving husband, Wes; six children, Barbara Pate of Shepherd; a special friend, Patty Johnson; and her children, Tina and Dana Nancy Hewitt of Show Low, Ariz., and her husband Sam and children Crystal (Roy) and Darren (Naomi), Ron of Billings and his wife Kellee and daughter Katy Jo, Leslie Clark of Roundup and her husband Mark and children Cary (Dale), Travis (Marie), Jeremy (Aimee) and Heather (Sam); David of Tucson, Ariz., and wife Mary Ann and children Michael, Rachel (Ryan) and Tiffany, and Gerald “Jed” of Beaverton, Ore., and wife Heidi and son Justin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
