FRED J. WEBER obituary

Fred J. Weber, 87, died on Friday, May 11, 2007, in his apartment at the Waterford of Helena.

A Vigil was held Monday, May 14, 2007, at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church (1502 Shirley Road) at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Helena on today at 10 a.m. followed by a reception at the Red Lion Colonial Inn. Born Oct. 6, 1919, in Deer Lodge to Victor and Dorothy Weber. Fred attended the University of Montana and later enlisted in ROTC and joined the 1 0 t h M o u n t a i n Division. Fred was married to P h y l l i s Schell in June of 1951. After 55 years their love for family and friends stands as their greatest legacy. They had four children. Fred practiced law in Havre for 31 years, working diligently with many fine lawyers in his firm. In 1980 he was elected to the Montana Supreme Court where he served the state for 15 years. Fred and Phyllis shared a love for both Havre and Helena involving themselves in many community activities. Through Young Life, a nondenominational youth organization, they placed themselves in the lives of hundreds of kids. Their involvement in St. Jude's Parish and the growth of the charismatic movement in Havre filled their lives with meaningful friendships. In Helena, Phyllis worked at Stornia Peter's Hospital as a volunteer for 24 years drawing Fred into her ministry upon his retirement from the Supreme Court. In their free time together, they celebrated nature by cross country skiing, hiking, and bicycling. They took many trips in their RV throughout the Northwest. Fred loved to sit by a stream and read God's Word. Fred's message to all of us is clear: Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit, praise and thanks to you for guiding me for all these years I rejoice in being your follower, looking forward to being with you for all eternity and ask your continued blessings and care for Phyllis and our family.
