DEAN EDWARD SEILER obituary

Dean Edward Seiler, 80, died Thursday, May 10, 2007, at Northern Montana Hospital following a short illness.

His funeral service will be Monday, May 14 at 11 a.m., at the Methodist Church in G l a s g o w . Burial will be at the G l a s g o w Cemetery. Dean was born April 20, 1927 in Flaxville, where he a t t e n d e d g r a d e school. Dean started high school in Washington, D.C., where he, his father, and his brother Harold worked construction, building the Pentagon. They later relocated to Fort Peck where Dean attended and graduated from the Nashua High School in 1945. While in high school, Dean participated in the school football and basketball programs. Dean joined the U.S. Navy in 1945, the spring of his senior year in high school. Dean served aboard the aircraft carrier U. S.S. Saratoga, as a Seaman 1st Class and was honorably discharged in 1947. After his discharge from the U. S. Navy, Dean began his 32 year career with the Montana Highway Department, in Glasgow where he first met his wife, Yukona E. Duncan from Hindsdale. Dean and Connie were married Jan. 31, 1948, at the Little White Church in Malta and resided in numerous North Eastern Montana communities. Later they relocated to Nashua, where Dean continued working for the Montana Highway Department at the Wolf Point Division. In 1968, Dean transferred to the Miles City Division of the Montana Highway Department to become the division engineer. Dean finished out his Highway Department career in Miles City retiring in 1978. Later that year Dean accepted employment with the Witco Chemical Company, as a regional engineer, residing in Boise, Idaho. Dean's territory included Idaho, Ore., Nev., Calif. And Wash. Dean fully retired in 1991 when he and Yukona moved back to Montana, residing in Billings. It was during this time that Dean and Yukona spent their winters at the Mesa Regal in Mesa, Ariz. In 2005, they moved to Havre. Dean was loved and admired by all, and his death leaves a huge void. May we fill this void with wonderful memories of his life, of his incredible generosity of his kindness and of his strength. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will forever remember his love for them and his wonderfully entertaining stories. Dean Edward Seiler was preceded in death by his son, Rodney in 1956; and his unnamed daughter, in 1957; his father, Harold Milton Seiler in 1987; his sister, Audrey Seiler Webber in 1990; his mother, Mildred (Baker) Seiler in 1991. Dean is survived by his wife of 59 years, Yukona Duncan Seiler; his sons, Richard (Debbie) Seiler of Glasgow, and David Seiler of Boise, Idaho; his daughters, Vicki (Doug) Bishop of Silverdale, Wash., Janis (Frank) Hartman of Miles City, Sheila (Tim) Miller of Havre, and Marsha (Lyle) Posey of Albuquerque, N. M.; 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and his brother, Harold Seiler of Mesa, Ariz. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Shriner's organization.
