George S. Owen, 97, died after a full and satisfying life Sunday April 15, 2007, at the Care and Comfort Home in Havre from complications from Alzheimer's disease.
His funeral service will be held at the Green Hills Mortuary at Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif., with burial to follow in the Green Hills Cemetery. George was born Aug. 31, 1909, to Henry and Effie (Estes) Owen. George began his work at a young age, working for a mill in Childress by opening and warming the building before going to school. He had also worked for the family mortuary, Arden Farms milk deliveries and Green Hills Mortuary, to name a few. George married Pearl Katherine Moller on June 18, 1967, and resided in Torrance, Calif., until Pearl passed away on June 13, 2004. George moved up to Havre in August of 2004 to live with his adopted daughter, Connie Chapman. George enjoyed gardening, camping and playing cards with friends. George was preceded in death by his parents; wife Pearl, in 2004; siblings, Alan, John, Clyde, Bob, Bill, Hazel, Betty, Lorena and Lillian; and granddaughter, April. Survivors include his adopted daughter, Connie L. (John) Chapman of Havre; three grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to First Lutheran Church of Torrance, 2900 Carson St., Torrance, CA 90503. George and Pearl were faithful members there. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
