BEND, Ore. Nanci Vohs (Huntley), 61, died at the Saint Charles Hospital in Bend, Ore., on Thursday, March, 8, 2007, after an unforeseen illness.
A celebration of life will be held at Valley View Country Club today beginning at 5 p.m. This is an informal gathering and all of Nanci's friends are welcome to attend. Born May 1, 1945, in Rudyard, she grew up and lived most of her life on the Hi-Line in Montana. Nanci married Jerry Ritter in 1964 and had two daughters, Jill and Kari Sue. She graduated from Northern Montana College and became a teacher in Fort Benton. She moved to Bozeman to continue her love for teaching at Monforton School. Nanci later married Jake Dyksterhaus. They lived in Belgrade. After her second divorce, she married her lifelong friend Chet Vohs. They happily retired and moved to Culver, Ore., where she lived the rest of her life. She was widowed in 2000, but was later blessed with her dear friend, Perry, and her loving dog, Elsie. Nanci was preceded in death by her parents, Urvin and Renee Huntley; brother, Roger Huntley; and sister, Joyce Vohs. Survivors include her daughter, Jill Ritter and Kari Sue Ritter of Bozeman; sister, Linda Spatafore of Great Falls; granddaughter, Emma-Jean Hastings of Bozeman; and grandson, Matthew Vohs of Otis, Ore. Nanci was a breast cancer survivor and donations can be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
