DON FRYE obituary

Charles Donald Frye, 63, of Havre died at his home peacefully from a heart attack on Sunday, March 25, 2007.

His graveside committal service will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at Hill County Cemetery in Havre. Charles Donald Frye was born Aug. 29, 1943, in Malta to Charles Denver and Doris K. (Ruud) Frye. He graduated high school in Havre, where he competed with his shop class that took the state championship in engine rebuilding. The team then went on to compete nationally, where they placed second. Don loved car racing and devoted much of his life to the hobby, including building his own sprint car and winning several awards for his car racing abilities. He also was highlighted for his Chevy pickup in a national publication for attaining more than 3 million miles on the original engine and transmission. Don had several talents, cooking, mechanics, puzzles and a grand sense of humor. Don loved children. It was widely known to the neighborhood children that Don could always take care of their bicycle mechanical problems. Don's heart and career were as a mechanic for most of his life. He also delivered the Great Falls Tribune, handling the Havre to Wolf Point route for approximately 21 years. Don served his country in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1967. Don was preceded in death by his mother Doris Frye. Survivors include his daughter, Tammy Frye of Great Falls; father, Charles D. Frye of Havre; sister, Gloria Brown of Sun Prairie; partner, Gertrude “Snooks” Clark of Havre; exwife, Gloria Frye; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Memorials can be given in Don's name to The Diabetes Association, 3203 Third Ave. N., Suite 205, Billings, MT. 59101 Funeral arrangements are in the care of Holland and Bonine funeral home of Havre.
