MALTA Belva Phyllis Morin-Johnson, 71, a homemaker and certified nurse assistant, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, at the Phillips County Hospital of natural causes.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a. m. Tuesday at the Malta Lutheran Church with burial in the Malta Cemetery. Belva was born Nov. 1, 1935, in Malta to Levi and Beatrice (Stevens) Emeline. She was raised and educated in Malta. She married Francis Joseph Morin on July 7, 1953, in Great Falls. They made their home in Saco and later moved to Malta. After Joe's death, she worked as a housekeeper and ran a daycare center. She devoted herself to her family and raising her children. Belva married Jean Itcaina on Oct. 31, 1981, in San Francisco. They made their home on the ranch south of Dodson. After his death, she continued working as a certified nurse assistant. She married Clifford Johnson in Wolf Point on March 21, 1998. They lived and made their home in Malta. Belva enjoyed dancing, crossword puzzles, crocheting, playing cards and bingo, and watching soaps on television. She also enjoyed working in her yard. Belva was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Francis Joseph Morin on Dec. 23, 1976, and Jean Itcaina on Feb. 5, 1994; brothers, Harrison, Clarence and Gene; and grandson, Ernest Joseph Morin. Survivors include her husband, Cliff Johnson of Malta; sons, Ray Morin of Havre, Paul (Kathy) Morin and Bill (Debbie) Morin of Missoula, Tom (Wendy) Morin of Polson, Frank Morin of Malta, and Chuck Guerin and Tony Guerin of Helena; daughters, Bea Kruse of Polson, Leona (Paul) Siewing of Malta, Terri (D. J.) LaVerdure of Great Falls and Connie McKiernan of Panhandle, Texas; foster son, Darrel MakesColdWeather of Browning; sisters, Clara Silvers and Iva “Pete” Peterson of Great Falls, Shirley Glidewell of Prosser, Wash., and Irene Baeth of Power; brother Bill Emeline of Belle Fourche, S.D.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials can be made to the Malta Lutheran Church or the Cancer Society. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
