RUBY SUDAN obituary

HAVRE/HOGELAND Ruby Sudan, 96, of Hogeland died Monday, March 19, 2007, at Northern Montana Hospital due to natural causes.

Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be at a later date in the Silver Bow Cemetery at Hogeland. Ruby was born on June 26, 1910, in Dell Rapids, S.D., to Mahlon and Rosa (Reedy) Bapp. She moved with her family when she was 3-months-old. Ruby lived on the family homestead west of Twete on the Big Flat and later Hogeland in 1930. She attended school at Silver Bow and graduated from Harlem High School in 1927. She attended Commercial College in Great Falls, where she met Tony Sudan. They were married on Aug. 10, 1929, in Chinook. They moved to the Hogeland vicinity in 1930 and purchased a farm, where they lived many years. Ruby loved the outdoors, her garden, flowers, the birds and farm life. She was a wonderful cook and baked bread and doughnuts, and always had something on hand. She was a charter member of Hogeland Happy House Wives Club. Ruby lived at Park View Apartments after Tony's death in 1989. She entered Northern Montana Care Center in September of 2002. She remained very involved with the farm as her eyesight failed. Ruby enjoyed life at the care center with bingo her favorite activity. She loved the staff and was very proud to be Valentine Queen in this year. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Pearl Hobbs; brothers, Lawrence, Harold and Lester Bapp; husband of 60 years, Tony, in 1989; and son, Eugene Sudan in 1999. Survivors include her son, Harry Sudan of Spring Creek, Nev.; daughter, Joan Showen of Havre; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to the Fifth Avenue Christian Church. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
