BIGFORK Freda Vogel, 88, a 29-year resident of Woods Bay, died Friday, March 16, 2007.
Memorial services were scheduled for 10 a.m. today at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Bigfork with Pastor Tom Gopp officiating. Freda was born July 20, 1918, in Cottonwood to Frank and Othelia (Ell) Koble. Freda and three brothers, Frank, Clarence, and Matt were raised on a farm north of Kremlin. In her adulthood, she worked the shipyards in Seattle for a short time, then moved to Helena and worked at the Parrot Confectionery. She later moved to Williston, N.D., where she farmed with her husband, Norman Johnson, and managed her own apartment complex. Freda married Raymond Vogel in September 1977 and moved back to Kremlin. In 1978, she retired from farm life and moved to Woods Bay and became a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. During her retirement, she enjoyed painting, playing bridge and gardening. Freda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank, Clarence, and Matt; first husband, Norman Johnson, also preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Vogel of Havre; stepdaughter, Fern (Roger) Larson of Kremlin; stepson, Randy (Elaine) Voge of Townsend; sister-in-law, Audrey Koble of Charlo; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and dear friend, Lynn Weed.
