Betty Jean Barrett, 72, longtime Havre resident died Saturday, March 10, 2007, at Benefis East Hospital in Great Falls of natural causes.
Her prayer vigil and rosary service will be held at 7 p. m. today with her memorial Mass at 10 a. m. Wednesday at the St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude Parish Center immediately after the graveside service. Betty was born July 10, 1934 in Carnegie, Pa., to John and Ann (Walasik) Sweethall. She was raised and educated in Carnegie. She met Robert H. Barrett and the couple married April 18, 1953 in Carnegie. They made their home in Minneapolis, Minn., and moved to Havre in 1969. Betty worked at the Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd for many years. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed cooking, baking, reading, card games, camping and fishing. Betty was very involved in her children's lives and activities. Family was very important to Betty. She enjoyed all of the family gatherings but most of all loved to spend time with her grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Sweethall; and brother, Sonny (John) Sweethall. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, Robert H. Barrett of Havre; sons, Michael (Debbie) Barrett of White Sulphur Springs, John (Shannon) Barrett of White Sulphur Springs, Bobby (Laurie) Barrett of Havre and Ronny (Ginny) Barrett of White Sulphur Springs; sister, Cookie (Alex) Prevada and family of Carneige, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
