MESA, Ariz. Jo Burt, 78, died Saturday, Feb. 24, 2007, in the Mesa Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Jo was born Nov. 12, 1928, in Baker to Harry and Mary Collins. They moved to Forsyth in 1934. She attended all her school years in Forsyth, graduating in 1946. She then attended the University of Montana Pharmacy School. After graduation in 1950, she returned to Forsyth to work for her dad at the Forsyth Drug. After her father died in 1951, she stayed in Forsyth and ran the store with her mother and cousin. Jo married Jim Burt in 1954. They worked at the store until it sold. Their three children were born in Forsyth. They moved to Bozeman in 1969. Jo was employed at the hospital pharmacy. They moved to Havre in the early 1980s, where Jo worked at the Kmart Pharmacy until she retired. They opened Subway restaurants in Havre, Lewistown, Glasgow and Williston, N.D. Jo loved sports and was on a bowling team all her adult years in Forsyth. In later years, Sundays were spent watching football; the Dallas Cowboys was her team. Survivors include her husband, Jim; sons, T.J. of Havre and Brad (Jana) of Williston; granddaughters, Sonja, Kristie and Kara of Williston, and Amanda of Ingomar; daughter, Jamie (Russ) of Ingomar; grandson, Rusty of Ingomar; sister, Patti (Erik) Erickson of Ingomar and their children and families. Memorial contributions in Jo's honor may be made to The Special K Ranch or charities of one's choice.
