BERNICE HUGHES obituary

Bernice “Bea” S. Hughes, 91, a homemaker of Havre, died of natural causes Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Northern Montana Care Center.

Her visitation will be from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. today at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Home with her funeral service 10:30 a. m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church with Pastors Brad Ulgenes and Michael O'Hearn officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the church immediately after the services at the graveside. Bea was born July 19, 1915, in Hingham to Olaf and Margaret (Amdahl) Sterry. She was raised and educated in Hingham. Bernice married Edward Hughes on Nov. 15, 1940, in Havre. She worked at the Sacred Heart Hospital as a nurse's aide and also a kitchen aide. She also was a nanny for the Jack Travis family. Bea loved a good cup of coffee and enjoyed cooking and baking, especially for her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and was very proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bea was a member of First Lutheran Church, taught Sunday school and also embroidered dish towels to give to people as gifts. Bea was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edward Hughes in 1968; infant daughter, Margaret Mary Hughes; brothers, Norman, Alton and Delos; and sister, Marjorie. Survivors include her daughter, Veronica “Ronni” (Bob) Nault of Havre; grandchildren, Patti Nault and Mike (Lori) Nault of Havre; and four greatgrandchildren of Havre. Memorials in Bernice's honor may be made to First Lutheran Church or to Northern Montana Care Center. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
