Gordon L. Johnson, 75, of Havre died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at Northern Montana Hospital after an extended illness and heart problems.
Cremation will take place, and his memorial service will be 2 p. m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Michael O'Hearn officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the V.F.W. immediately after the services at the graveside. Gordon was born Sept. 1, 1931, in Watford City, N.D., to Iver and Emelia (Falkenhagen) Johnson. He was raised and educated at East Fairview, N.D. He joined the U.S. Air Force in November 1954. Gordon married Delores Brese on Feb. 6, 1955, in Fairview at the Zion Lutheran Church. They lived in Sidney from February to June of 1955 and then moved to Wolf Point and then to Havre in 1966. Gordon worked as a machinist and mechanic for many years. Gordon enjoyed motorcycling and hunting, and he loved long walks. He was a member of First Lutheran Church in Havre and a lifetime member of the Havre V. F.W. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Sandra Johnson; brothers, Dallas, Lawrence, Raymond, Floyd, Ernie, Kenneth and Leonard; and granddaughter, Kristen Bear. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Delores of Havre; daughters, Victoria (William) Hurd of Havre and Peggy (Paul) Teel of Havre; son, Randy (Cindy) Johnson of Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Mamie Finsas of Fairview, N.D.; brother, Ervin Johnson of Sidney; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions in Gordon's honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3203 Third Ave., N., Suite 203 Billings, MT 59101. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
