MIKE HOFER obituary

MALTA Mike J. Hofer, 54, a local farmer and immaculate carpenter, died of cancer peacefully at his home with his family by his side.

His funeral service was scheduled for 11 a.m. today, at the East Malta Colony with burial in the Colony Cemetery. Mike J. Hofer was born July 12, 1952, in Grass Range to John and Susie (Hofer) Hofer. He was raised in Grass Range and moved to Turner in 1961. He attended Turner Public Schools for eight years. In 1979, he moved to East Malta where he resided until his death. Mike had a great sense of humor and found lots of joy with his nieces and nephews. He devoted much of his time helping family and friends, with projects big or small. He loved to spend his time with family and friends. Fighting the battle of cancer was not easy for him, but he never complained. May our loving son, brother and uncle rest in peace. Mike was preceded in death by his mother on Feb. 14, 2001, and a brother-in-law in 1990. Survivors include his dad, John S. Hofer; brothers, John (Matilda) Hofer and Joe (Marie) Hofer of East Malta Colony; sisters, Bertha Hofer of Turner, Marie (John) Walter of Raymore, Saskatchewan, Annie (Paul) Walter of Fort MacLeod, Alberta, and Barbara (Danny) Hofer of Turner; uncle, Mike S. Hofer of East Malta Colony; 22 nieces and nephews; five greatnieces and great-nephews; many cousins; and lots of friends. Adams Funeral Home of Malta is in charge of arrangements.
