MEREDITH GILMORE obituary

CHINOOK Meredith Gilmore, 81, of Chinook, a retired Blaine County mosquito supervisor, died Friday, Jan. 19, 2007, at Peace Hospice in Great Falls due to natural causes.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p. m. Tuesday in Saint Gabriel's Catholic Church with burial following in Kuper Memorial Cemetery with military honors. Meredith was born on May 7, 1925, in Eagleton to Pearl S. and Josie M. (Good) Gilmore. He was raised in the Missouri River Breaks and attended school in Dodson and Havre. Meredith served in the U.S. Army during World War II and returned to Blaine County in 1946. Meredith married Madeleine Lariviere in Weyburn, Saskatchewan on May 22, 1947. They resided in Blaine County since. Meredith worked as a cowboy on various ranches, worked for GTA, was involved in trucking and retired from Blaine County mosquito control. Meredith enjoyed being with his family, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He also enjoyed playing cards, cribbage in the morning with his wife, riding and working with horses. Meredith was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Gilmore in January of 2003; brothers, Wardon, Eldon and Kenneth Gilmore; and sisters, Annie Gilmore, Zeal Harlan and Thelma Hertel. Survivors include his wife, Madeleine Gilmore of Chinook; son, Terry (Deanna) Gilmore of Chinook; daughters, Michaela Getschman of Missoula, Meredy (George) Scofield of Chinook and Marlane (Kent) Wenzel of Verndale, Minn.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be sent to Peace Hospice in Great Falls or to Blaine County Wildlife Museum in Chinook. Arrangements are by Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
