Marion Rose Ekness, 76, died of cancer in Phoenix on Monday, Jan. 15, 2007.
The memorial service for Marion will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Havre. She was born in Blaine County and lived the past 26 years in Havre. Marion was a loving wife, mother and grandmother as well as a caring sister and friend. She loved to be with her grandchildren, they brought so much joy and love into her life. She also enjoyed making gifts for them and always encouraged them in their endeavors. She worked as a nurse for more than 30 years and also assisted her husband at the Arctic Circle in Havre, which they owned for 10 years before retiring. The family spent a lot of time in Glacier National Park, having many fond memories within this special God-given place. Marian was preceded in death by her parents and older brother, George. Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Sherman; sons, Paul (Heather), Jim (Maxine), Steve (Suzi), Wesley (Cathy) and David (Heather); 13 grandchildren; brothers, Ray (Ruth) Fairbank, Bob (Marion) Fairbank and Mike (Cathy) Fairbank; and sister, Elinor (Thaine) Warren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp, 603 Main St., Kalispell, MT 59901.
