DONA MADDEN obituary

Dona Rae Madden, 76, of Havre died Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at her home of natural causes.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Rowlie Hutton officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the Eagles immediately after the service at the graveside. Dona was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Duluth, Minn., to Donald M. and Claire (Sutton) Tennant. She attended school in Minneapolis. When she was a freshman in high school, Dona moved to Havre with her family. Dona attended schools in Havre and graduated from Havre High School in 1949. After high school, Dona went to work at the Hill County Courthouse as a clerk. The opportunity arose for her to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Co. In Havre, where she met Charles Madden. The couple were married Aug. 2, 1952, in Havre at the First Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Havre and were both employed by Mountain Bell. Dona was the office manager of Mountain Bell and retired after working for the company for more than 27 years. Dona was a member of the Eagles and V.F.W. auxiliaries, Daughters of the Nile, Elks, Eastern Star and was a volunteer at the Northern Montana Hospital for several years. She enjoyed golfing, reading and traveling. After Dona and Charles retired, they traveled to Bullhead City, Ariz., during the winter months. They had many friends there and enjoyed the warmth of the sun and playing golf. The couple also traveled to Hawaii, Fiji, Mexico and Las Vegas. Dona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Madden in 2001; and sister, Kathleen Krantz in 2003. Survivors include her brother- in-law, Alvin Krantz of Kalispell; and brother, Kenneth (Donna) Madden of Seeley Lake; 10 nieces and nephews; and longtime caregiver, Sylvia Hansen of Havre. Memorial contributions in Dona's honor may be made to The Shriner's Hospital for Children, P.O. Box 2472, Spokane, WA 99210-2477, or to the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line, 500 First Ave., Havre, MT 59501. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
