Marie Gibson, 78, of Havre died Wednesday Jan. 10, 2007, at the Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place and her memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Robert D. Grosch officiating. A fellowship luncheon will be held at the St. Jude Parish Center immeidatley after the service. Interment will be held at the Hillcrest Mausoleum at a later time. Marie was born Feb. 21, 1928, in Havre to Jim and Babe (Stamey) Cowan. She had very fond memories of her childhood on the family farm. Marie attended St. Jude School and Havre Public Schools. She worked at Havre Laundry and Flynn Realty in her earlier years. Marie married George Gibson on Feb. 11, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nev. The couple made their home in Havre, where she and George worked at Rocky Mountain Packing Co. In her marriage, she acquired three stepdaughters: Georgia, Eleanor and Kate. Marie and George built a summer home in Whitefish in 1976 and enjoyed many years of golfing and boating. After George died, Marie and her sister, Lois, enjoyed a cruise through the Panama Canal and a cruise to Alaska. They also enjoyed seven memorable winters together in Bull Head City, Ariz. Marie enjoyed the Fox News, old movies and reading, golfing and bowling. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George in 1996, her brother Jimmy Cowan and her dog Clyde. Survivors include her sister, Lois Cowan of Everett, Wash.; stepdaughters, Georgia James of Las Vegas, Nev., Eleanor Foss of Chubbuck, Idaho, and Kate O'Connor (Robin) Toner of Havre; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Marie's honor may be made to St. Jude School. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
