EDWARD BERGER obituary

BOX ELDER Edward G. Berger, 76, of Box Elder died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Northern Montana Hospital of natural causes.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel. Cremation will follow. At Ed's request, no services will be held. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Ed was born July 31, 1930, at Cleveland to Edward R. and Elizabeth (Sandanie) Berger. The family lived in Havre, where Ed attended St. Jude Catholic School. Ed married Darlene Russette in March of 1951 in Havre. The couple made their home in Rocky Boy. He entered in to the U. S. Army in 1951 and served in the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1952. After his discharge, Ed returned home to Rocky Boy and worked for the Public Works Department. He also worked as a surveyor for the BIA Road Department and then retired. Ed enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and listening to country western music, especially fiddle music. Ed was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and one sister. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Berger of Rocky Boy; adopted sons, Wesley Dean Merrill and John Michael Merrill, both of Rocky Boy; daughter, Edwina (Joseph) Saddler of Havre; brothers, Robert Berger of North Havre, Ronnie Berger of Havre and Larry Berger of Butte; sisters, Bonnie (Gunny) Doney, Sandra Berger and Elaine (Galen) Eagleman of Havre, Loretta (Jim) Azure of Chinook, Shirley (Joe) Gardipee and Helen (Ed) Gardippe of Butte and Elizabeth DeCelles of Everette, Wash .; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
