Arlene Marie Almeida, 70, of Havre died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, at her home in Havre of natural causes.
Cremation has taken place. Her graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Highland Cemetery in Havre. Arlene was born June 29, 1936, in La Crosse, Wis., to Irving and Florence (Gile) Caulkins. She was raised and educated in Wisconsin. Arlene met John M. Almeida Jr. While he was stationed at Fort McCoy, Wis., and the couple married on July 5, 1952. They traveled extensively with the military and settled in Havre in 1968. Arlene worked as a certified phlebotomist at Northern Montana Hospital. She retired in 1991 after working there for 20 years. Arlene and John enjoyed wintering in Arizona and living in Havre during the summers after they were retired. Arlene was computer literate and kept in touch with many family and close friends via email. She enjoyed hearing from everyone and keeping up to date on all of their activities. She also enjoyed shopping online, needlework and her dogs. She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John in 1999. Survivors include her sister, Sharon (Randy) Ware of Gulf Shores, Ala.; sons, John (Judy) Almeida III of Rhome, Texas, and David (Dela) Almeida of Cottage Grove, Minn.; daughter, Audrey (Mark) Renne of Renton, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Arlene's honor be made to Bear Paw Hospice, 30 13th St. W. , Havre, MT 59501, or to the American Lung Association, 825 Helena Avenue, Helena, MT 59601-3459. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
